Why one plan

Stop juggling multiple companies. Hire just one.

One company for mowing, another for fertilization, someone else for weed control, a different crew for leaves, and a separate bill from each. Wondering who is actually coming this week.

The Full Season Plan replaces all of that with one agreement, one crew and one price. Everything is scheduled, everything is included, and you get a photo every time it’s done.

01

Weekly Mowing, String Trimming & Blowing

Every week, all season

Mowing looks simple, but how and when grass is cut decides whether a lawn grows thick and green or thin and weedy. Most Bergen County lawns are cool-season grasses (tall fescue, Kentucky bluegrass and perennial ryegrass), and they do best when they’re cut often and never too short.

  • Walk the property. The crew checks for toys, hoses, branches and anything else on the lawn before a mower starts.
  • Set the right height. About 3 to 3½ inches in spring and fall, and up to 4 inches in summer heat. Taller grass shades out weeds and holds moisture.
  • Mow in alternating patterns. Changing direction each visit keeps grass standing upright, avoids ruts and gives the clean striped finish.

02

Seasonal Fertilization

4 applications per season

Grass uses nutrients every time it grows and gets cut. Fertilizer replaces them, but timing matters as much as the product itself. Feed a cool-season lawn at the wrong time and you get weak, fast top growth, disease, or fertilizer that washes into storm drains.

  • Early spring. Wakes the lawn up gently after winter and supports root growth. This is where pre-emergent crabgrass control usually goes down too.
  • Late spring. Builds density before the stress of summer.
  • Summer. A lighter, slow-release feeding that keeps color without pushing growth in the heat.

03

Weed Control

Throughout the season

Weed control works in two ways: stopping weeds before they sprout (pre-emergent) and treating weeds that are already growing (post-emergent). The best results come from timing both correctly and keeping the lawn thick, so weeds have nowhere to go.

  • Pre-emergent in early spring. Applied when soil warms to about 55°F, usually early to mid April here (when the forsythia blooms). It stops crabgrass seeds from establishing.
  • Spot-treat broadleaf weeds. Dandelions, clover, plantain and other broadleaf weeds are treated where they appear, instead of blanket-spraying the whole lawn.
  • Beds and hard surfaces. Weeds in beds and in walkway, patio and driveway cracks are pulled or treated during visits.

04

Spring Cleanup & Dethatching

Once per season, early spring

Winter leaves behind matted leaves, sticks, sand from the street and dead plant material. Left alone, it smothers the grass, delays green-up and invites disease.

  • Clear debris. Leftover leaves, sticks, fallen branches and winter debris raked and blown out of the lawn, beds and corners.
  • Clean out the beds. Dead annuals and last year’s perennial stems cut back, beds tidied and ready for mulch.
  • Dethatch the lawn. The matted layer of dead grass (thatch) is pulled up so water, air and fertilizer reach the soil. Done when thatch is thicker than about ½ inch.

05

Fall Leaf Removal

October through December

Bergen County is full of mature oaks, maples and sycamores, and they don’t drop their leaves all at once. One cleanup in late October leaves you buried again by Thanksgiving.

  • Blow and rake the lawn and beds. Leaves cleared from the lawn, out of beds, from around shrubs and out of corners where they pile up.
  • Clean hard surfaces. Driveways, walks, patios and steps blown clean. Wet leaves on pavement are slippery.
  • Remove or mulch. Leaves are hauled away or bagged per your town’s collection rules. Light layers can be mulched back into the lawn.

06

Shrub & Hedge Trimming

Once per season

Overgrown shrubs make a home look neglected, block windows and walks, and get thin and leggy at the bottom. But trimming at the wrong time can cut off next year’s flowers.

  • Identify the plants. Spring bloomers (azaleas, lilacs, forsythia) are trimmed right after they flower; most hedges and evergreens in late spring to early summer.
  • Shape, don’t just shear. Hedges are kept slightly wider at the bottom than the top so sunlight reaches the lower branches and they stay full.
  • Clear away from the house. Branches touching siding, windows, roofs and walks are cut back.

07

Core Aeration & Overseeding

Once a year, early fall

Foot traffic, mowers and our heavy North Jersey soils pack the ground tight over time. Compacted soil starves roots of air and water, and thin spots fill in with weeds.

  • Mark sprinkler heads and lines. So the aerator doesn’t hit irrigation, invisible fences or cables.
  • Core-aerate the lawn. A machine pulls thousands of small plugs of soil, opening channels for air, water and roots. The plugs are left to break down on the lawn.
  • Overseed. A quality cool-season seed blend (tall fescue and bluegrass) is spread so it falls into the aeration holes, where it has soil contact and protection.

Questions

Frequently asked

How is my price set?

After a free visit, we price your property based on its size and what it needs, then send one exact price for the whole season. That price goes into your signed agreement and doesn’t change mid-season.

When do payments start?

Payments begin March 1, the start of the season. Sign up over the winter, lock in your price and the early sign-up deal, and pay nothing until spring.

What are my payment options?

Monthly payments through the season, 3 payments, or pay in full and save 10%. During the early sign-up period, everyone also gets 5% off the season, so paying in full saves up to 15%.

Do I need to be home?

No. Leave gates unlocked and pets inside. You’ll get a reminder the day before and a photo when we’re done.

What if I’m not happy with a visit?

Tell us from your online account, by text or by email. We come back and make it right within 48 hours, free. That’s our promise.

Can I add snow removal or extra work?

Yes. Snow removal, mulch, planting and one-time projects can be added anytime. Just send a request from your account.

What happens when it rains?

If weather moves your visit, you get an email with the new day automatically.

Is my card information safe?

Card payments are handled by Stripe, the same processor used by major retailers. We never see or store your full card number.
