Payments & card security

How does paying by card work?

When you sign your agreement, you add your card on Stripe’s secure checkout page. Your card is saved there, not with us. On each payment date it’s charged automatically, and you get an emailed receipt within minutes showing the amount, the card, and what the payment covers. Invoices for extra work can also be paid online with one tap from the email.

Is my card information secure?

Yes. Card payments are processed by Stripe, the same payment company used by Amazon, Target and millions of businesses. Stripe is certified PCI DSS Level 1, the highest level of security in the payments industry. Your full card number goes directly to Stripe over an encrypted connection; GH Landscaping never sees or stores it. We only see the card brand and last four digits (for example “Visa ending 4242”).

Who can change the card on my account?

Only you. Your account page requires a 6-digit code sent to your email to sign in, and we email you every time someone signs in. Card changes happen on Stripe’s secure page.

When will I be charged?

Full Season Plan payments start March 1, the start of the season, no matter when you sign. Monthly plans are charged on the 1st of each month during the season; 3-payment plans on three set dates; pay-in-full plans once. Your dates are listed in your agreement and on your account page.

Will I get a reminder before a payment?

Yes. We email you a few days before each automatic payment with the amount, the date and the card it will be charged to.

Are there any card fees?

Credit card payments include a 3% surcharge (or our actual processing cost, if lower). Debit cards are never surcharged. Check and Zelle payments add 3.325% tax. Paying by cash has no extra fees. Every fee shows as its own line on your invoice before you pay, like the tax line at an online store, and is never added as a surprise.

Can I pay by check, cash or Zelle?

Yes. You can choose check, cash or Zelle when you sign. Check and Zelle payments add 3.325% tax; cash has no extra fees. Your card is then kept only as a backup and is not charged automatically.

What happens if a payment fails?

We email you right away with a secure link to update your card, and we try again automatically a few days later. Nothing changes with your service while you sort it out.

Where can I find my receipts and invoices?

Every receipt and invoice is emailed to you and saved on your account page, where you can view, print or pay them anytime.

Watering & lawn care tips

Should I water my lawn every day?

No. Daily light watering trains roots to stay near the surface, so the lawn dries out faster and gets more disease. Water deeply 2 to 3 times a week instead, for about 1 to 1½ inches of water per week including rain. The only exception is new seed or new sod, which need daily watering for the first couple of weeks.

How do I know how much water my lawn is getting?

Place an empty tuna can (or any straight-sided can) on the lawn while the sprinkler runs. When it collects about an inch, that area has had a full weekly watering. Time how long that takes and use it as your sprinkler setting.

What is the best time of day to water?

Early morning, roughly 5 to 9 a.m. Less water evaporates, and the grass dries during the day. Watering at night leaves the lawn wet for hours, which encourages fungus.

Should I water my plants and flowers every day?

New plantings: yes, for the first 1 to 2 weeks, especially in hot weather. Established shrubs and perennials: no, a deep watering once or twice a week in dry weather is better. Containers and hanging baskets: often daily in July and August because they dry out fast. When in doubt, push a finger an inch into the soil: dry means water, damp means wait.

Why is my lawn turning brown in summer?

Most lawns here are cool-season grasses that can go dormant in long heat waves and droughts. Dormant grass turns tan but usually recovers when cooler, wetter weather returns. Deep, infrequent watering, mowing tall, and fall aeration and overseeding all help it stay greener.

Are there watering restrictions in New Jersey?

Sometimes. During droughts, some towns and water utilities set odd/even-day or time-of-day watering schedules. Check your town or water company’s notices in summer.

Should I bag my grass clippings?

Usually not. Short clippings from regular mowing break down quickly and return nutrients to the soil. We bag only when the grass is too long or wet, or on request.

What causes yellow spots from my dog?

Concentrated nitrogen in dog urine burns grass. Rinsing the spot with water soon after helps. Repeated spots can be repaired with seed in early fall.

Visits & scheduling

Do I need to be home for visits?

No. Just leave gates unlocked and keep pets inside on your service day.

How will I know when you’re coming?

You can get an email reminder the evening before each visit, a heads-up when the crew is on the way, and a “done” email with a photo after every visit. You choose which ones you want when you sign, and you can change them anytime from your account.

What happens if it rains?

Mowing wet grass tears it and ruts the lawn, so we move the visit. You get an email with the new day automatically.

Can I skip a visit or add extra work?

Yes. Send a request from your account page, or call or text us. Extra work like mulch or an extra trim is priced and scheduled for you.

What if something wasn’t done right?

Report it from your account page (choose “Report a problem”), by text or by email. We come back and make it right within 48 hours, free.

Will it be the same crew each time?

Our trained, professional crews follow set routes, so the same team knows your property and how you like it.

Full Season Plan, estimates & agreements

What does the Full Season Plan include?

Weekly mowing, string trimming and blowing; spring cleanup and dethatching; fall leaf removal from October through December; four fertilizer applications; weed control in the lawn, beds and hard surfaces; shrub and hedge trimming; and core aeration with overseeding. All for one set season price.

How is my price decided?

After a free visit, we price your property based on its size and what it needs and send one exact written price. It goes into your signed agreement and doesn’t change during the season.

How do I approve an estimate?

Open the estimate from our email, tap “Accept Estimate”, review the agreement, sign with your finger or mouse, and you’re done. You get a signed copy by email right away.

Is signing online legally binding?

Yes. Electronic signatures are legally valid in New Jersey and across the U.S. under the federal ESIGN Act and New Jersey’s Uniform Electronic Transactions Act, just like signing on paper. You always get a complete signed copy.

Is there a discount for signing up early or paying in full?

During our early sign-up period (mid-October to February 15) new Full Season Plan agreements get 5% off, and paying the season in full saves another 10%, up to 15% total.

Does the plan renew?

Your agreement explains your term and renewal in plain language before you sign. Snow removal agreements renew each winter so you’re covered automatically.
